HOW CAN YOU CREATE JOY IN YOUR LIFE (ESPECIALLY IN DIFFICULT TIMES)?

Hi! My name is Sarah C.B. Guthrie and I am a Seattle-based painter and writer, specializing in joy. I paint daily and write weekly about joy. Since my work in joy began in 2017, I have learned what joy is, how to find it, and why we all deserve it and I’m here to share all I’ve learned with you.

What is joy? To me, joy is an optimism of spirit we all carry within us. It’s sparked through our actions. We can feel joy even in difficult times. Joy can co-exist with sadness, anger, grief, and loss. Even in our darkest moments, there is room for joy.

My paintings are full of vibrant color. A recent study showed that looking at colorful art is the neuro chemical equivalent of looking in the eyes of someone you love. Other studies have shown seeing original art improves thinking, idea generation, and relieves stress—not just for the adults who see it, but also for children.

Imagine that…you can feel love, joy, and think more clearly, just by hanging colofrul, original works of art on your walls.

The good news is that you don’t have to be a gazillionaire to collect art that brings joy to your life. I offer a variety of original paintings to fit your space and your budget. To make it easier for you to get more Joy, I offer no-interest, flexible installment payment plans for both original paintings and commissions.

I adore working directly with clients creating custom works of Joy. Paintings that tell the story of your family, your life’s milestones, your dreams, the place where you feel most at home, as well as works that will raise the energy and joy in your home, business, office, or commercial space. My custom commissioned works of Joy begin at sizes 18”x24” or 20”x20” and can go up to 6’x8’ (and can go larger with multiple panels). If you are looking for a special gift for your family, friends, colleagues, or yourself, I would love to work with you. To learn more and start a commission conversation, pop over here.

I am a contemporary pointillist, non-objective painter. My paintings look like layers and layers of soft, colorful flower petals arranged in a pleasing way, designed to bring you joy. I take a lot of inspiration from the natural world of the Pacific Northwest–our gorgeous gardens, trees, lakes, lily ponds, sunrises and sunsets.
